Costain has secured a significant front-end engineering and design contract from bp to create a new hydrogen pipeline network in Teesside, UK. The 31km onshore pipeline distribution network will transport purified and dehydrated hydrogen from bp's hydrogen production facility to industrial end users, aiding in the reduction of carbon emissions and promoting regional decarbonisation. This project is part of the H2Teesside initiative, set to be one of the UK's largest blue hydrogen production facilities. Costain's Managing Director of Natural Resources, Sam White, praised the project as a transformative step towards decarbonisation, highlighting the importance of designing a cutting-edge hydrogen network. The collaboration between Costain and bp aims to provide industrial users with a cleaner alternative to natural gas, crucial for achieving decarbonisation goals and fostering sustainable energy practices.
