The island's commitment to renewables is evident through its aim to achieve 'net zero' by 2035, well ahead of the national target. With an emphasis on utilizing green hydrogen and renewable energy, Jeju plans to achieve zero carbon emissions in a sustainable manner. Governor Oh highlighted the success of various green hydrogen initiatives in Jeju, such as the operation of green hydrogen buses and cleaning vehicles, with ambitious plans to expand these fleets by 2030. Moreover, the island is looking beyond mobility to integrate green hydrogen into everyday life, including agriculture for producing RE100 tangerines and eggs, and in public housing complexes to establish Green Energy Cities.
