During his visit to the UAE, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed Malaysia's openness to investment from UAE companies in renewable energy projects, including data centers. Meetings were held with sovereign wealth fund companies from the UAE, discussing collaborations on green energy projects, infrastructure development, and strengthening the energy grid. The government assured to facilitate UAE state-owned renewables firm Masdar's investment plans in Malaysia through joint ventures for various projects. Discussions with Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) included projects related to Malaysia's New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the Madani Economy framework, as well as potential collaborations in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. ADIA's potential involvement in the privatisation of Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is seen as crucial for the airport's reorganization. Anwar also mentioned cooperation with global infrastructure partners on this front. The meeting with Mubadala included talks on LNG production, gas-related infrastructure, blue hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects. The focus on these areas signifies a commitment to sustainability and innovation in Malaysia's energy sector.
