The Federal Minister for Petroleum of Pakistan, Dr Musadik Malik, recently met with Chinese companies at the 8th Silk Route Expo in Xian, China to discuss investment opportunities in the petroleum sector. Several leading Pakistani petroleum companies, including OGDCL, PPL, MPCL, FFC, and Thar Coal Energy Board, are participating in the expo with the aim of securing investments from Chinese counterparts. The discussions revolved around potential partnerships in oil and gas exploration, refinery upgradation, coal conversion, and regasification. Dr Musadik Malik highlighted Pakistan's vast coal reserves and the commitment to extract value from these resources while ensuring environmental sustainability. Additionally, the prospect of producing green and blue hydrogen and ammonia was mentioned. The Minister emphasized the importance of becoming technology and joint venture partners to drive growth and innovation in the sector. The round table meetings at the expo aimed to foster collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese companies for mutual benefit and advancement in the energy sector.
