The Minister for Petroleum of Pakistan, Dr Musadik Malik, led a delegation to the eighth Silk Route Expo in China to strengthen energy partnerships with Chinese companies. The delegation aimed to foster collaboration in various sectors, including oil and gas exploration, refinery upgrades, coal conversion, and regasification. During the discussions, Pakistan's focus on exploring new oil and gas reserves was highlighted, with a planned investment of $5bn in the next three years. Minister Malik emphasized the country's commitment to utilizing its large coal reserves sustainably, aiming to produce fertilisers and explore the production of green and blue hydrogen, ammonia, and coal-based energy. The meeting also included business-to-business engagements between Pakistani and Chinese companies, with a focus on becoming technology and joint venture partners. Pakistani energy companies, such as OGDCL, PPL, MPCL, FFC, and the Thar Coal Energy Board, showcased investment opportunities at the Expo.
