Air Liquide S.A.'s joint venture, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Air Liquide Shenergy Hydrogen Energy Development Co., Ltd. (ALSHSN), recently inaugurated a pioneering hydrogen facility in Shanghai, marking a significant step in advancing hydrogen infrastructure in the region. Attended by esteemed guests, including French and local dignitaries, the inauguration highlighted the critical role of ALSHSN in driving hydrogen mobility across Shanghai and the wider Yangtze River Delta region. The facility, with a daily filling capacity of 12 tons, can support 12 hydrogen refueling stations, enabling the refueling of over 1,000 medium-to-heavy-duty trucks each day. This not only enhances the reliability and efficiency of the region's hydrogen supply chain but also accelerates the adoption of hydrogen-powered transportation in line with China's climate ambitions. ALSHSN sources hydrogen produced through a CO2 recycling process at SCIPIG, an Air Liquide subsidiary, and plans to utilize biomethane from Shenergy for hydrogen production. By introducing 300 bar TYPE II trailers, the facility significantly improves logistical efficiency, translating to increased payload and reduced transportation carbon emissions. The joint venture's commitment to sustainability aligns with China's energy transition roadmap and Shanghai's initiatives to peak carbon emissions ahead of the national target. The partnership between Air Liquide, Shenergy, and SCIP emphasizes the dedication to delivering low-carbon hydrogen to the local market and fostering a green energy transformation in China.
