Simply Blue Group has unveiled plans to repurpose the Goldboro site in Nova Scotia, Canada, into a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) hub, marking a significant step in their North American expansion. The Renewable Energy Park in Goldboro will utilize renewable electricity from the company's solar and wind farms, along with Nova Scotia's biomass and water resources, to produce 150,000 tonnes of SAF annually. This initiative has been praised by Nova Scotia's Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables for its potential to make the region a leader in green hydrogen and combat climate change while boosting the local economy. The project is expected to create new market opportunities for low-grade wood fiber, benefiting the local forestry sector. By providing a stable market for residual biomass, Simply Blue Group aims to enhance forest management practices and resilience to climate-related risks like wildfires. The CEO highlighted the role of SAF in reducing greenhouse gas emissions significantly.
