Costain has been selected by Wales & West Utilities to assist in the transition of industrial and commercial gas users to hydrogen as part of efforts to lower carbon emissions. The study will focus on how users connected to the gas network can shift to a lower carbon system by utilizing hydrogen. Data will be collected on current hydrogen refueling plans and preferences for decarbonization methods. Additionally, the research will involve mapping users geographically to identify those needing extra support in the transition. The ultimate goal is to help Wales & West Utilities and its customers adapt to hydrogen blending effectively, thus contributing to the UK's net zero goals. This initiative is crucial in driving the energy transition forward and promoting sustainable practices in the gas sector.
