The world is facing significant challenges in the form of air pollution, global warming, and energy security, with millions of deaths attributed to these issues annually. Urgent and cost-effective solutions are needed to address these pressing concerns. The article highlights the inefficiency and negative impacts of technologies like carbon capture, blue hydrogen, and new nuclear in combating these problems, as they are supported by the fossil fuel industry and fail to offer comprehensive solutions. Instead, the focus is on wind, water, and solar (WWS) technologies as existing solutions with the potential to address all three challenges simultaneously. By leveraging WWS technologies, which include wind, water, and solar energy combined with storage and efficient electrical appliances, the world can significantly reduce energy consumption and overall social costs. The efficiency of WWS systems leads to a remarkable over 54% decrease in global energy usage, offering a cost-effective and sustainable alternative. Moreover, WWS technologies can lower annual energy costs worldwide by 60% and result in a 92% reduction in social costs when health and climate factors are considered. Overall, the article emphasizes the immediate need to shift towards low-cost, effective solutions like WWS technologies to combat air pollution, global warming, and energy security issues on a global scale.
