Topsoe and Aramco have joined forces to revolutionize the production of low-carbon hydrogen by signing a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to utilize Topsoe’s innovative eREACT™ technology at the Shaybah Natural Gas Liquids recovery plant in Saudi Arabia. The plant's 3MW unit is expected to produce 6 tons of low-carbon hydrogen daily, showcasing the potential of this ground-breaking technology. The collaboration builds on their initial partnership announced in October 2023 and underscores their commitment to commercialize carbon-reducing solutions. By leveraging Aramco's resources and expertise alongside Topsoe's emission reduction technologies, the partnership aims to drive the global adoption of eREACT™ for low-carbon hydrogen production. The eREACT™ technology offers a versatile approach to converting various feedstocks into low-carbon hydrogen or other chemicals using electrified heating, which can significantly reduce gas volumes needed for production. Furthermore, the potential combination with carbon capture and storage (CCS) enhances its carbon-reducing capabilities.
