The 'Way to GO2'-certified hydrogen peroxide is crucial in the production of recycled paper, acting as a powerful bleaching agent that maintains brightness and prevents discoloration. Notably, hydrogen peroxide decomposes into oxygen and water, offering a greener alternative compared to other bleaching chemistries and meeting the high environmental standards of the German 'Blue Angel' ecolabel. Evonik's Way to GO2 certification involves a comprehensive lifecycle analysis of its Active Oxygens business line in Europe. By implementing emission-reducing measures like transitioning to renewable electricity, a portion of its output is already considered carbon-neutral and is supported by Way to GO2 certificates. The revenue from selling these certificates is reinvested in achieving full carbon neutrality by 2040. This commitment to sustainability has been externally verified and certified by TÜV Rheinland, ensuring transparency and accountability.
