At the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, Hexagon Purus announced its partnership with Toyota NA to supply components for heavy-duty fuel cell electric powertrain kits. This collaboration, which began in 2017, aims to support the reduction of harmful emissions in commercial transportation, particularly focusing on Class 8 trucks. Hexagon Purus will provide a full hydrogen storage system and high voltage battery pack for Toyota's fuel cell powertrain kits, emphasizing the role of hydrogen in emissions reduction. Toyota has received a Zero Emission Powertrain (ZEP) Executive Order from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its new heavy-duty fuel cell electric powertrain, facilitating compliance with strict emissions regulations in California. The state aims to have around 1.6 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2050, driven by regulations set by the EPA and CARB. Through this collaboration and certification, both companies aim to contribute to a cleaner energy future and significantly reduce emissions in the transportation sector.
