The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hong Kong to advance the development and application of hydrogen energy. The MoU focuses on enhancing collaboration to promote the industry's growth, demonstrate applications, and build capacity in hydrogen energy. Sinopec Corp plans to construct a green hydrogen production facility at an EPD restored landfill for showcasing purposes. This initiative aims to supply hydrogen to the local market, supporting its broader use and fostering hydrogen energy advancement in Hong Kong. Moreover, Sinopec Corp will aid the Hong Kong Government in raising awareness and understanding of hydrogen energy through education and public outreach. The signing ceremony, attended by prominent figures like the Secretary for Environment and Ecology, marked a significant step towards boosting hydrogen energy in Hong Kong and aligning with global trends in sustainable energy practices.
