ACWA Power and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation Energy (SEDCE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore the development of large-scale green hydrogen production in Sarawak, Malaysia. The collaboration aims to leverage renewable energy sources to solidify Sarawak's position as a leader in the new energy sector in the region. SEDCE and ACWA Power met with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to discuss the details and impact of the MoU. The planned project includes developing renewable energy power plants ranging from 2GW to 4GW, incorporating various sources like solar, biomass, and wind, alongside a green hydrogen facility. This integrated facility will produce export-grade green ammonia, positioning Sarawak significantly in the green hydrogen market. ACWA Power's expertise, notably from the NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, is expected to support Sarawak in achieving its renewable energy goals and transitioning towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
