The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad concluded a two-day workshop, the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub symposium, focusing on advancing research and innovation in critical minerals with an emphasis on sustainable methods for mineral exploration, extraction, and recycling. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the role of critical minerals in green energy and sustainable development, aiming to produce 20,000 MW of green energy by 2030 through green hydrogen technology. Consul General Hilary McGeachy emphasized the importance of Australia-India collaboration in promoting sustainable practices and clean energy. The workshop also witnessed the signing of a MoU between IIT Hyderabad and SCCL to enhance sustainable mining practices and technological advancements. Joint Secretary (Mines) Dinesh Mahur underlined the necessity of industry-academia collaboration for developing domestic processing capabilities and achieving self-sufficiency in the supply chain. The event aimed to unite researchers, academicians, and industry leaders from India and Australia to foster sustainable mining innovations and support the transition to clean energy.
