- The state is committed to adding 72.6 GW of renewable energy capacity over six years, including solar, wind, pumped storage, and green hydrogen projects, with support from the Ministry of Power for BESS capacity.
- AP Transco has completed the commissioning of substations and transmission lines, enhancing the state's infrastructure for efficient power distribution and transmission.
In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Chief Secretary K Vijayanand stressed the importance of ensuring reliable power supply in the upcoming summer season. With a focus on providing nine hours of free power to the agricultural sector and maintaining 24x7 uninterrupted power for all consumers, efforts are being made to expedite the release of new agricultural connections and accelerate project execution.
The state anticipates a peak power demand of 13,700 megawatts and an electricity demand of 260 million units per day during the summer. To meet this demand, plans are in place to generate a significant portion of power internally through AP Genco. The government has expressed full support for AP Genco in coal procurement and transportation, aiming to minimize public burden and ensure efficiency.
Andhra Pradesh has committed to adding 72.6 GW of renewable energy capacity over the next six years, including solar, wind, pumped storage, and green hydrogen projects. The state has already approved clean energy projects worth ₹85,727 crore, focusing on solar and wind capacity, green hydrogen production, and compressed biogas.
Additionally, the state has requested BESS capacity under the Viability Gap Funding scheme and aims to secure more capacity through CPSU components. AP Transco has made significant infrastructure enhancements by commissioning substations and transmission lines, further strengthening the state's power distribution and transmission capabilities.
