AtkinsRéalis, an engineering services company, has secured a contract from the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association (PNWHA) to assist in developing the Pacific Northwest hydrogen hub. This project aims to produce green hydrogen exclusively and drive down electrolyser costs. AtkinsRéalis will oversee project management, subrecipient agreements, and report to the US Department of Energy. The PNWHA hub, which received initial funding from the DOE, plans to utilize green hydrogen to decarbonize heavy-duty transportation, agriculture, and industrial operations. AtkinsRéalis's experience in managing energy programs and active hydrogen projects worldwide aligns with the goals of establishing clean hydrogen hubs across the US. The company's track record in electrolyser design, manufacturing, and facility development supports the transition to green hydrogen. The DOE's vision includes establishing several clean hydrogen hubs in the US, including the successful hubs like ARCH2, ARCHES, HyVelocity, and PNWH2.
