Key Ideas
  • BASF and AM Green have signed an MoU to explore business opportunities for low-carbon chemicals with renewable energy in India.
  • The partnership includes feasibility studies on low-carbon chemicals production and offtake of 100,000 tons annually of ammonia meeting EU standards.
  • AM Green aims to accelerate its green ammonia production to support net zero targets in India and OECD markets, contributing significantly to green hydrogen goals.
  • The collaboration between BASF and AM Green aims to cater to multiple chemical downstream industries by providing key green molecule feedstocks.
BASF and AM Green B.V. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly evaluate and develop business opportunities for low-carbon chemicals produced with renewable energy in India. The agreement, signed at the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024 in New Delhi, involves conducting feasibility studies on low-carbon chemicals production and includes the offtake of 100,000 tons annually of ammonia meeting EU standards. AM Green's facilities are being pre-certified for compliance with renewable fuels of non-biological origin. The partnership aims to deepen capabilities in downstream value chains and support the sustainability transformation of industries in India. AM Green, a leading energy transition solutions provider in India, is focused on accelerating green ammonia production to meet net zero targets, aiding India's green hydrogen production goals. This collaboration is expected to play a significant role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries with green caustic soda, e-methanol, olefins, and biofuels.
