During the 18th Environment Partnership Summit organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata, State Industry and Commerce Minister Shashi Panja announced the Bengal government's initiative to attract investors for setting up green hydrogen manufacturing units. The state has already introduced a green hydrogen policy to support this effort, showcasing its commitment to sustainable practices. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is dedicated to fostering green industry within the state, offering incentives to manufacturers who participate in this eco-friendly endeavor. The government's focus on developing a circular economy is evident in its emphasis on green manufacturing and renewable energy sectors, encouraging industry players to establish green hydrogen units in Bengal. Furthermore, the government is also planning to establish a recycling unit for electronic waste management, furthering its sustainability objectives. Sanjay Budhia, the managing director of Patton, emphasized the necessity of a circular economy and highlighted the importance of cohesive policies, aligned incentives, and robust enforcement mechanisms to accelerate sustainable practices.
