Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has announced ambitious plans for the Deendayal Port in Kandla, India, emphasizing its transition into a significant green hydrogen hub. The port is set to achieve a cargo capacity of 300 million metric tonnes, positioning itself as a mega terminal port. During his visit to the Deendayal Port Authority, Sonowal inaugurated several critical projects, including the Green Hydrogen Excellence Centre, highlighting the port's commitment to green energy initiatives. Additionally, the launch of a waste recycling plant and a new Kendriya Vidyalaya building underscored the port's dedication to sustainability and community development. Moreover, plans for future expansion involve the construction of projects worth Rs 57 thousand crore, including a mega terminal port and a ship-building endeavor. This investment aims to enhance the port's infrastructure and boost economic growth in the region.
