The Egyptian government, led by NREA Chairman Mohamed El-Khayat, has unveiled ambitious plans to expand renewable energy projects with a focus on green hydrogen production. A significant area of 41,700 square kilometers has been earmarked for these initiatives, leaving only 900 square kilometers to be allocated. Furthermore, collaborative efforts with investors through 27 signed MoUs are set to enhance the country's energy capacity to a substantial 115 gigawatts, combining both solar (52 GW) and wind (63 GW) energy. Moreover, strategic land approvals in the Red Sea and Suez governorates aim to establish renewable energy plants generating 4.4 gigawatts of wind energy and 11 gigawatts of solar energy.
