The Council of the EU has recently endorsed 46 Global Gateway flagship projects for 2025, with Green Energy Park in Brazil recognized as a priority project under the Climate and Energy category. This transformative project focuses on producing renewable hydrogen at a gigawatt scale to deepen industrial value chains in a specific region in Brazil. The initiative aims to leverage green hydrogen to boost sustainable industries, with a particular emphasis on the production of green steel and establishing Green Shipping Corridors to facilitate international trade. By aligning with policy priorities and avoiding overlap, the EU aims to maximize the impact of these projects globally. The Green Energy Park initiative is part of the North-East Brazil Green Energy Parks & Green Shipping Corridors project, which consolidates multiple hydrogen-related projects to create synergies and develop large-scale European infrastructure in Brazil. The partnership between Europe and Brazil through these initiatives aims to accelerate the energy transition, reduce green premiums, and foster a sustainable economic model benefiting both regions.
