Schemes such as the PAT scheme incentivize energy efficiency in the steel industry, while the adoption of Best Available Technologies and projects like NEDO Model Projects focus on energy efficiency improvements. The introduction of the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme further incentivizes greenhouse gas emissions reduction by steel companies. Additionally, efforts to promote recycled steel production include the Steel Scrap Recycling Policy and Motor Vehicles Rules, which aim to increase the availability of scrap for steelmaking, promoting a circular economy and green transition in the sector.
