Stolthaven Terminals and Global Energy Storage (GES) have been chosen as the potential operators to develop a green ammonia terminal in Pecém, Brazil, by the Port of Pecém Authority (CIPP). This selection follows a competitive tender process and marks a significant milestone in the project's progression. The upcoming phase will focus on refining the terminal's basic engineering in conjunction with CIPP and ammonia producers. The initiative is poised to support the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives, emphasizing the strategic importance of clean fuel infrastructure. Guy Bessant, President of Stolthaven Terminals, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and highlighted the terminal's role in the energy transition. Peter Vucins, CEO of GES, emphasized the collaborative effort that led to the development of a solution aligned with the partners' vision. The partnership between Stolthaven Terminals and GES, established in 2023, underscores their commitment to operating an export terminal for hydrogen-related products. This venture builds upon a memorandum of understanding signed in 2022 between Stolthaven Terminals and the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex, signaling a long-term focus on storage and handling services for green hydrogen.
