In a significant move towards promoting green hydrogen production, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has approved nearly 1.99 lakh hectares of land to establish a renewable energy park. With plans to make Gujarat a national hub for green hydrogen, the state government aims to achieve a production target of 30 lakh metric tons of green hydrogen per year. To achieve this, the government is focusing on utilizing unconventional energy sources like solar, wind, and wind-solar hybrid energy. The Governor highlighted the state's immense renewable energy potential, robust port infrastructure, and well-developed LNG pipeline network as key factors in this initiative. Memorandums of Understandings worth ₹3 lakh crores have been signed during the Vibrant Gujarat summit, signaling a significant investment in green hydrogen projects. Additionally, plans include ramping up the renewable energy capacity by 37,000 MW through the construction of renewable energy parks. With Gujarat already having the highest total electricity generation capacity in the country and a significant renewable energy installation base, the state is well-positioned to lead the way in green hydrogen production.
