Himachal Pradesh is actively working towards becoming the first green energy state in India by 2026. The state government is emphasizing the exploitation of green energy options, especially solar power, to combat climate change and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources. Initiatives such as the promotion of green industries, advocacy for solar projects like the mega solar park in Spiti, and the establishment of green corridors for electric vehicles are underway. Notably, a green hydrogen-based mobility station project has been initiated in Chamba by the NHPC to produce green hydrogen for bus fueling, aiming to boost the region's economy and employment opportunities. The state is also transitioning its transport system towards sustainability by converting buses into electric ones. Additionally, various solar power projects are being implemented to achieve the target of 500 MW solar power capacity. Through these innovative initiatives, Himachal Pradesh is setting a national example in green energy and sustainability, aligning with its vision for a prosperous and environmentally friendly future.
