The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, announced the groundbreaking initiative of establishing the first green hydrogen-based mobility station in Chamba, a district in Himachal Pradesh. This project, with an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore, is set to be completed by August 2025 by the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC). The mobility station will include a 300-kilowatt grid-connected solar power plant to support its energy requirements and produce 20 kg of green hydrogen daily. This green hydrogen will be stored and used to fuel a green hydrogen bus in the region, introducing the concept of green hydrogen buses for the first time and increasing awareness about sustainable energy sources. The initiative is part of the state government's broader vision to transform Himachal Pradesh into a 'Green Energy State' by 2026, emphasizing the utilization of green energy and promoting green industry. The project in Chamba is expected to not only drive economic development through revenue generation but also create employment opportunities for the local population. In addition to the green hydrogen mobility station, upcoming developmental projects in Chamba include the construction of a heliport, consultancy services for a tunnel, and the establishment of a Medical College to address healthcare needs in the region. The government's commitment to meeting the developmental needs of Chamba highlights its dedication to overall progress and sustainability.
