Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for the NTPC Green Energy's green hydrogen hub project in Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam, marking India's first green hydrogen hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The project, with an investment of approximately ₹1,85,000 crore, will include 20 GW renewable energy capacities, making it a substantial integrated green hydrogen production facility. It is designed to produce 1,500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen and 7,500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen derivatives including green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel, targeting primarily the export market. Spanning over 1,600 acres, the project will feature various facilities like manufacturing, chemical storage, port infrastructure, desalination plant, and more, aiming for completion by 2032. It is expected to create over 57,000 employment opportunities, fostering economic growth and supporting India's goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. Additionally, by promoting decarbonisation and aligning with Net Zero goals, the project will play a vital role in India's energy independence and global green energy landscape.
