The Government of India has initiated a call for proposals to establish Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for Green Hydrogen as part of the Research and Development Scheme of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The primary goal of this initiative is to create world-class centers that focus on innovation and sustainability to enhance long-term energy independence in India. These CoEs will play a crucial role in advancing technologies related to Green Hydrogen production, storage, and utilization, ultimately driving the transition towards a low-carbon economy. Launched on January 4, 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission has a substantial budget of Rs. 19,744 crores allocated up to the financial year 2029-30. By fostering clean energy initiatives, the mission aims to support India's vision of becoming self-reliant and inspire a global shift towards clean energy technologies. This mission is expected to significantly contribute to the decarbonization of the Indian economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in both technology and market aspects of Green Hydrogen.
