India is making significant strides in the production of Green Ammonia as the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has commenced the e-bidding and e-Reverse Auction process for a total capacity of 5.39 lakh Metric Tonnes per annum. This move is part of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme under the National Green Hydrogen Mission led by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). The initiative aims to boost the demand for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives in the country, with the produced Green Ammonia intended for supply to fertilizer companies. MNRE has already allocated substantial capacities for Green Hydrogen and Electrolyzer manufacturing under the SIGHT Programme. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, with an allotted budget of Rs. 19,744 crores, is set to drive India towards self-reliance in clean energy and position the nation as a leader in the global clean energy transition. This mission will not only facilitate decarbonization of the economy but also reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, paving the way for technological and market dominance in Green Hydrogen.
