Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, inaugurated India's Green Hydrogen Certification scheme in a significant move towards establishing a comprehensive framework for certifying green hydrogen production. The scheme focuses on ensuring transparency, traceability, and market credibility. Minister Joshi highlighted the essential role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India's energy transition, emphasizing their innovative capabilities and localized solutions. The National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to build a self-reliant green hydrogen ecosystem by 2030, with MSMEs at the forefront. A national workshop in New Delhi brought together over 300 delegates from various stakeholder groups to explore opportunities and discuss the critical role of MSMEs in developing India's green hydrogen ecosystem. Discussions at the workshop focused on R&D collaboration models, indigenization of components, MSME integration in large projects, and financial support mechanisms. The workshop also showcased use cases on biomass conversion to hydrogen for rural industries and emphasized the potential of decentralized models to meet local demand sustainably. Financial institutions discussed strategies to de-risk investments, blended finance mechanisms, and the importance of designing green credit lines accessible to MSMEs. The government's commitment to promoting a sustainable future through green hydrogen initiatives, with a focus on empowering MSMEs, was evident throughout the workshop.
