The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has initiated the establishment of Centres of Excellence (CoE) under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to drive integrated research across the Green Hydrogen value chain. The objective is to create leading CoEs that will promote innovation, sustainability, and energy independence in the long term. These centers will play a crucial role in advancing Green Hydrogen technologies, including production, storage, and utilization. By fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, the CoEs will enhance process efficiencies, develop new products, and promote the growth of the Green Hydrogen ecosystem in India. The Government of India has released guidelines for implementing the R&D scheme under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and is inviting proposals for partnerships from Public and Private entities, Research Institutions, and Universities. With an allotted budget of Rs. 100 crores, the Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023, aims to contribute to India's self-reliance in clean energy, drive decarbonization, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market. This strategic initiative aligns with the global shift towards clean energy and marks a significant step towards achieving a low-carbon economy.
