Gensol Engineering and Matrix Gas & Renewables have entered into a partnership to develop a cutting-edge green hydrogen-powered steel facility in India. This pioneering project, valued at INR 321 crore, is receiving substantial backing from the Indian government, including 50% capex incentives. The primary focus of the facility is to utilize 100% green hydrogen, marking a significant advancement in sustainable steel production practices. With a daily capacity of 50 tons, the plant will employ direct reduced iron (DRI) technology to not only enhance efficiency but also to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, aligning with the objectives of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Chirag Kotecha, the Whole-time Director of Matrix Gas and Renewables, commended the initiative as a pivotal development in India's steel industry. He emphasized the importance of this facility in showcasing a commitment to green hydrogen and sustainable principles, positioning the stakeholders at the forefront of the country's transition towards clean energy. The project is also seen as a strategic step towards contributing to India's renewable energy targets. This collaboration underscores a collective effort involving the government and various key stakeholders to ensure the success of the initiative under the ambit of the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
