India's Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, embarked on a visit to Germany to solidify cooperation in green hydrogen, renewable energy finance, and sustainable development. India's progress in renewable energy is evident as the country has already achieved 40% of its electric power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2021, well ahead of its 2030 target. The visit includes attending the Hamburg Sustainability Conference and engaging in bilateral talks with ministers from Germany and the UK. This visit highlights India's commitment to global energy transition and international initiatives, such as the International Solar Alliance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on India-Germany relations is underlined by the recent launch of the India-Germany Platform for Investment in Renewable Energies at RE-INVEST 2024. The discussions during the visit also encompass green shipping, decarbonising the mobility sector, and enhancing collaboration for a sustainable future.
