Three UK companies, including Latent Drive in Scotland, have received funding from the Net Zero Technology Centre's Electrolyser funding competition to accelerate the development of green hydrogen technology. The focus is on advancing efficient electrolyser technology to enable cost-effective and large-scale green hydrogen production. The Energy Hubs project in Scotland aims to develop energy infrastructure for producing green hydrogen and alternative fuels, with plans to export over 0.9 million tonnes to Europe annually. The selected firms offer innovative solutions such as decoupled hydrogen and oxygen production, membraneless design, and direct seawater electrolysis, which eliminate the need for desalination and enhance safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Government support, including the Scottish Government's Energy Transition Fund, is seen as vital in fostering innovation and achieving net zero targets through the development of green hydrogen technology.
