INOX Air Products, India's largest manufacturer of industrial, electronic, and medical gases, has operationalized the country's inaugural green hydrogen manufacturing plant at Asahi India Glass Limited's greenfield float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. This pioneering initiative is set to produce up to 190 tons of green hydrogen annually using the electrolysis process, driven by solar energy. An off-take agreement between AIS and INOX entails a 20-year commitment for green hydrogen supply to the facility, aiming to enhance sustainable glass production. Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of INOX Air Products, foresees a substantial cut of 1250 tons in CO2 emissions yearly at the AIS site due to the green hydrogen adoption. Rupinder Shelly, COO-Architectural Glass at Asahi India Glass, emphasized the reinforcement of sustainability values through this collaboration, underscoring the intent to meet most of the power requirements through green energy sources. AIS's foray into greenfield float glass manufacturing aligns with its focus on quality production for automotive and architectural applications, supported by technology collaboration with AGC Europe. The strategic partnership with INOX Air Products signals a strategic move towards greener practices and underscores the commitment to environmental stewardship and decarbonization in India's industrial landscape.
