KBR has been awarded a consulting contract by Kuwait Oil Company to develop a country-wide masterplan for the production of 17GW of renewables and 25GW of green hydrogen by 2050. The project involves providing advisory services for the deployment of wind and solar power integrated with power storage, aiming to produce green hydrogen for industrial use and export. Kuwait aims to achieve competitive green hydrogen costs by 2032 and increase renewable energy production to 50% by 2050. While Kuwait's green hydrogen is more competitive regionally, challenges remain in cost competitiveness with traditional fuels. KBR's expertise in energy transition investments and technology deployment is set to support Kuwait's efforts in renewable energy development.
