The Kerala government has taken a proactive step towards promoting the adoption of hydrogen as an alternative fuel source by establishing a new company, 'Hydrogen Valley Innovation Cluster Kerala'. This initiative, led by ANERT, aims to increase the presence of hydrogen vehicles in the state. The company will adhere to the guidelines provided by the Central Department of Science and Technology and will operate with an initial cost of Rs 133 crore until 2030, with significant financial support from both the central and state governments. The Board of Directors will be composed of representatives from various government departments, shareholders, and public and private industries. The primary objectives of this venture include advancing infrastructure, job creation, environmental conservation, and exploring investment opportunities. By focusing on replacing electricity with hydrogen and conducting research on innovative hydrogen applications, the project endeavors to establish Kerala as a hydrogen hotspot. Overall, this initiative signifies a positive stride towards sustainable and green technology adoption in the state.
