MNRE's Guidelines for Green Hydrogen Testing Facilities Funding
Key Ideas
  • The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued guidelines for funding testing facilities and infrastructure for Green Hydrogen, allocating a budget of Rs 200 crore until 2025-26.
  • The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) will oversee the implementation of the scheme, focusing on developing quality and performance testing facilities for Green Hydrogen production and trade.
  • Eligible entities for proposal submissions include government organizations and public as well as private companies aiming to establish or upgrade their hydrogen testing facilities, emphasizing openness to all potential users.
  • The National Green Hydrogen Mission, part of the initiative, aims to promote self-reliance through clean energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market development.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in India has released guidelines outlining funding support for the development of testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional assistance for the Green Hydrogen value chain. The scheme, covered under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aims to identify existing gaps in testing facilities for Green Hydrogen components and processes, supporting the creation of new facilities and upgrades for safe operations. With a budget of Rs 200 crore until 2025-26, the scheme will be implemented by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) to ensure quality and sustainability in Green Hydrogen production. The guidelines allow government organizations and public as well as private companies to submit proposals for establishing or enhancing their hydrogen testing facilities. The MNRE will provide full funding for government entities and 70 percent of the capital cost for non-government entities, with a portion allocated for operational expenses over four years. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023 with a substantial budget, seeks to advance India's clean energy goals, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and position the country as a global leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market development.
