Energy and materials company Modern Hydrogen and power solutions firm Mesa Solutions have joined forces to introduce a hydrogen power solution for data centres. Mesa Solution's new genset, running entirely on hydrogen, will be integrated with Modern Hydrogen's on-site solution that transforms natural gas into hydrogen and carbon solids. This collaboration aims to provide data centres with reliable on-site hydrogen power, eliminating the need for additional hydrogen infrastructure. The solution is designed to be modular, scalable, and cost-effective by utilizing existing natural gas infrastructure, ultimately enhancing return on investment. The partnership agreement was formalized in Houston, Texas, at POWERGEN International, emphasizing the industry's focus on meeting the escalating power demands of data centres. The announcement highlights the shift towards cleaner energy solutions and explores the mix of traditional and renewable sources to address the substantial increase in power needs. By considering various energy options like coal, gas, nuclear, and green hydrogen, the industry is adapting to ensure reliable and sustainable power generation for evolving data centre requirements.
