The Ministry for Ecological Transition in Spain has awarded Moeve 303 million euros for the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley project, marking a significant step in the country's energy transition efforts. The project, set to start in Huelva, will feature a green hydrogen generation plant with a substantial 400 MW of electrolysis power, creating 10,000 jobs and fostering a new industrial ecosystem in the region. This initiative, known as the Onuba project, is a crucial part of Moeve's strategy to become a leading player in the European energy transition landscape. With an investment exceeding 3 billion euros, the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley will encompass two green hydrogen production centers in Huelva and Cádiz, with a combined electrolysis capacity of 2 GW. The project aims to produce up to 300,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, significantly contributing to the decarbonization of various sectors. Additionally, the broader H2 Valles program in Spain targets a total electrolysis capacity of 2,278 MW, with substantial investments totaling around 4.907 billion euros. This strategic initiative aligns with the country's goals for renewable energy, renewable hydrogen, and storage, emphasizing the importance of green hydrogen in the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.
