The Ministry of Production in Peru has reached a significant milestone by approving the Detailed Environmental Impact Study (EIA-d) of the Green Hydrogen Production Plant - Horizonte de Verano project, set to be developed in Arequipa. With an investment exceeding US$ 11.2 billion, this initiative is hailed as the largest of its kind in Latin America. The project, led by Horizonte de Verano SAC, will focus on the production of green hydrogen to obtain ammonia, a crucial component in the chemical and energy industry. It will also incorporate a water desalination plant and a photovoltaic solar plant, emphasizing sustainable practices. Minister Sergio González Guerrero emphasized the importance of this project for Peru's industrial development, highlighting the role of green hydrogen in the global energy transition and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Peru's abundance of renewable resources and competitive production costs position it favorably for investments in green hydrogen production and export. Minister Guerrero reaffirmed PRODUCE's dedication to sustainable development and emphasized the necessity for Peru to keep pace with the global shift towards cleaner energy.
