Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS) and INOX Air Products have embarked on a groundbreaking initiative in the glass industry by signing a 20-year agreement for the supply of Green Hydrogen to AIS's float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. This collaboration sets the stage for India's first Green Hydrogen Plant dedicated to the Float Glass sector, promoting sustainable practices in the manufacturing process. The plant, operational by July 2024, will be fueled by solar energy and have the capacity to produce 190 tons of Green Hydrogen per year through electrolysis. INOX Air Products will oversee the design, engineering, installation, and continuous supply of Green Hydrogen to AIS, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by 1250 metric tons annually. AIS's commitment to sustainability is evident through investments in renewable energy sources like solar power and the utilization of Green Hydrogen in the glass manufacturing process. This strategic move not only emphasizes a greener future but also reinforces India's leadership in adopting renewable energy solutions. The partnership between AIS and INOX Air Products aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and the country's vision for achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 under the leadership of PM Modi.
