Prumo, the economic group behind the development of Porto do Açu in Brazil, has partnered with Fuella AS to establish a green hydrogen and ammonia hub at the port complex in northern Rio de Janeiro. The project involves a one million square meter hub, with Fuella securing a substantial area for their first venture in Brazil. This initiative includes plans for a green ammonia plant capable of producing 400,000 tons annually, with the support of Allianz Capital Partners. The development is seen as a significant step in reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy. Fuella AS aims to make an investment decision within four years and begin production by 2030. The partnership also involves Port of Antwerp-Bruges International to facilitate the export of green ammonia from Brazil to Europe. Porto do Açu's extensive infrastructure, access to water sources, and commitment to renewable energy projects make it an attractive location for such initiatives. The hub has received preliminary licensing, signaling a move towards integrated renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production for domestic use and export.
