Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has entered into an agreement with Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS to enhance its green energy portfolio in India. The agreement grants RIL an exclusive license for Nel's alkaline electrolysers in India and permits the company to manufacture these electrolysers for its projects globally. This partnership is part of RIL's strategic move towards reducing carbon emissions and investing in renewable energy sources. RIL's chairman, Mukesh Ambani, has announced a substantial investment of $75 billion in renewable infrastructure, including solar panels and electrolyzers, to support the green energy revolution. By focusing on green hydrogen production through electrolysis, RIL aims to play a significant role in achieving emission reduction targets. The company's ambitious plan includes becoming a net zero carbon emission entity by 2035, which surpasses the environmental commitments of many other energy firms in the region. RIL's target to generate 100 gigawatts of renewable energy aligns with India's goal to achieve 500GW of installed renewable capacity by 2030, with a major emphasis on solar power. This collaboration with Nel enables RIL to leverage the advanced technology platform for manufacturing electrolysers, reinforcing its position in the green energy sector and supporting the growth of renewable energy in India.
