Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has secured a new contract with Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group for 10 MW of alkaline electrolyser equipment worth about EUR 5 million. This agreement is for the development of a pilot plant for nuclear pink hydrogen production, marking Samsung C&T's first project in Korea using nuclear power for hydrogen production. The project's goal is to convert excess nuclear power into hydrogen, thus enhancing energy efficiency and minimizing waste during periods of power oversupply.
Samsung C&T, known for its global engineering and construction projects, has selected Nel for the second time due to the latter's technology reliability. Byung Soo Lee from Samsung C&T expressed confidence in Nel's electrolysis technology, signaling a desire to further collaborate in the clean hydrogen sector. The production of alkaline stacks and balance-of-stacks for this project will take place at Nel's facility in Herøya, Norway, known for its fully automated production line.
