Scatec ASA, in partnership with ECHEM and MOPCO, has reached an agreement on renewable ammonia offtake with Yara Clean Ammonia in Egypt, signaling a major advancement in sustainable energy initiatives. The project involves the development of up to 480 MW of renewable energy and a 240 MW electrolyzer facility to produce renewable hydrogen for feedstock in renewable ammonia production at MOPCO's existing facility in Damietta, Egypt. With a targeted annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes of renewable ammonia, this collaboration emphasizes the shift towards clean energy sources and supports Egypt's national low carbon hydrogen strategy. The European Investment Bank has shown its support by offering long-term financing, highlighting the importance of renewable hydrogen and ammonia projects. The partnership signifies a commitment to green solutions in the petrochemical industry and aims to contribute to a sustainable future for Egypt and beyond.
