The Scottish Government has announced a significant funding initiative to support green hydrogen projects across Scotland, with up to £7 million being made available for businesses to kickstart development. The aim is to facilitate projects with a capacity ranging from 4 to 500 megawatts, equivalent to powering hundreds to thousands of homes. Additionally, financial support will be extended to assist with the hydrogen supply chain and storage solutions. Organizations have until the end of September to apply for a maximum of £2 million in funding. The program, developed in collaboration with Scottish Enterprise, aims to advance the renewable energy sector, support Scotland's net zero targets, and drive economic growth. Minister for Climate Action Alasdair Allan emphasized the role of green hydrogen in Scotland's economy, underlining the importance of renewable energy generation in its production. This funding is expected to catalyze the development of green hydrogen projects and hydrogen hubs, paving the way for future utilization and export opportunities.
