Shoreham Port in the UK has partnered with ScottishPower to explore the establishment of a green hydrogen production facility. The two entities have signed an MoU to conduct a feasibility study over twelve months to assess the opportunities for setting up a green hydrogen plant that can aid in decarbonizing the port. Tom Willis, Chief Executive at Shoreham Port, highlighted the importance of hydrogen in achieving net zero locally and the favorable conditions within the cluster for hosting production facilities. ScottishPower's parent company, Iberdrola, has a successful history of delivering green hydrogen projects in various countries, including Spain. ScottishPower has been acknowledged for its projects in the UK, with successful allocations in the Government's Hydrogen Allocation Round and signing Low Carbon Hydrogen Agreements. Projects like the 10 MW facility at Whitelee Windfarm and the 15 MW facility in Cromarty, in partnership with Storegga, have been recognized. Additionally, ScottishPower is conducting a feasibility study for a 100 MW production plant at the Port of Felixstowe with support from the UK Government's Net Zero Hydrogen Fund.
