TECNIMONT and NEXTCHEM Partner to Design Green Ammonia Plant in India with ArcHy Digital Tool
Key Ideas
  • TECNIMONT, with NEXTCHEM, awarded a contract for an Engineering Design Study for a 200,000 metric ton-per-year green ammonia plant in India.
  • The project will utilize NEXTCHEM's ArcHy digital tool to optimize renewable power usage, reducing both capital and operational expenditures over the plant's lifecycle.
  • The study aims to leverage renewable energy production profiles to determine the plant's components' sizes, minimizing the cost of green ammonia production.
  • This partnership showcases a commitment to energy transition projects and decarbonization efforts, emphasizing cost-efficiency and specialized engineering solutions.
TECNIMONT, in collaboration with NEXTCHEM (MAIRE), has been awarded a contract for an Engineering Design Study for a green ammonia plant in India. The study, which is the first phase of the Front-End Engineering Design, will be conducted by TECNIMONT's Indian subsidiary, Tecnimont Private Limited, and will leverage NEXTCHEM's proprietary digital tool, ArcHy. The purpose of utilizing ArcHy is to optimize renewable power usage in the plant, resulting in improved capital and operational efficiency throughout the plant's lifecycle. By analyzing renewable energy production profiles collected over a year in various weather conditions, the digital tool will assist in sizing components like electrolyzers, storage systems, and green ammonia production facilities to minimize the overall cost of ammonia production. Alessandro Bernini, MAIRE CEO, highlighted the Group's commitment to energy transition projects, particularly in green ammonia plants, showcasing their reliability in offering engineering and technological solutions that align with decarbonization initiatives. This partnership demonstrates a combined effort towards sustainability and cost-efficiency in the green energy sector.
